A new conservation community is planned.

Royal Gorge owners Todd Foster and Kirk Syme envision this future mountain community as a gateway to the outdoors and a source for wilderness education and recreational activities in the Sierra Nevada.

Royal Gorge will feature three “camps” organized around specific outdoor recreation. Clustering new residences and activities into camps ensures the vast majority of the property will remain untouched. A land trust will protect this open space in perpetuity.

As Donner Summit residents have asked, community planning includes: No golf and no gates, setting aside Van Norden Meadow as open space, an improved entry road intersection to the community, and careful placement of the new camps to preserve the Royal Gorge cross-country ski experience.
